Hacker, entrepreneur and free software activist, Abhas Abhinav, showcases his custom creation. These LED lights spell out "LP" for #LibrePlanet Boost if you like his work!

... and that's a "liberated computer" in the wild running FreeBSD!

@pswapneel - did you face any challenges getting FreeBSD to run on this?

BTW - Units of the LC230 Liberated Computer at still available on the libretech.shop.

Except for the latency to the FreeBSD mirrors, the install was a breeze. Plan is to use this for a couple of weeks. More updates soon!

This new version brings tons of new features and a redesigned UI! 🔽

good day! Why Castpod platform is better then FunkWhale one for the podcasting?
Hi guys. I usually use a separate server to host my audios. Will CastoPod ever allow me to link audio files instead of uploading them to the same server? I understand that this functionality is not implemented yet.

#Nextcloud is an excellent tool to replace such google services.

We would be glad to offer help with hardware sizing, deployment planning, scaling and migration to those stuck in such situations.

Looks like the unlimited storage that Google promised my university a couple years ago is being discontinued, and the entire institution is being limited to 100TB… I can fill that 5 times over with our data.

Amazing Mahesh! Wish you the best... Looking forward to testing one of these soon.

Please do consider if a coplyleft license (eg. #GPLv3) might be more apt for licensing the hardware designs instead of CC-BY-NC-SA.

Very happy to tell you that I am working with @crowd_supply to try and crowdfund Mico (PDM to USB microphone based on @Raspberry_Pi RP2040). Please sign up for updates on the pre-launch page below. Thanks for all the encouragement so far!🙂

Self-hosted Push Notifications using UnifiedPush + Nextcloud

Its very easy and possible to build your own self-hosted push notification service using UnifiedPush & Nextcloud.

UnifiedPush - https://unifiedpush.org/

Step 1

Install the Nextcloud plugin for UnifiedPush: https://github.com/UP-NextPush/server-app

Step 2

Modify your Synapse server configuration to add the following section:
location /_matrix/push/v1/notify {
  proxy_pass https://nextcloud-url/apps/uppush/gateway/matrix;
}

Step 3

Install the NextPush mobile application from F-Droid:

https://f-droid.org/en/packages/org.unifiedpush.distributor.nextpush/

You need to have the Nextcloud application configured and logged in to your nextcloud server for this to work.

Step 4

Configure an application that supports UnifiedPush (eg. SchildiChat) to use push notifications. UnifiedPush should show up as a notification target under the "UnifiedPush" section in the "Notifications" configuration.

Step 5

SchildiChat should now show up as a Registered Application in NextPush.

If your 3D printer uses Marlin, this service provides on-demand pre-compiled firmware so you don't have to do it yourself. Good example of a #freesoftware business that offers convenience while respecting your freedom and the license.

If your computer has "Intel Corporation Sunrise Point-LP HD Audio" and you're not able to use it (or route sound over HDMI), then try:

echo "options snd-intel-dspcfg dsp_driver=1" > /etc/modprobe.d/inteldsp.conf

Once you reboot, you should now be able to use the Intel sound card.

Getting "Sunrise Point-LP HD Audio" to work

If your computer has this sound card: "Intel Corporation Sunrise Point-LP HD Audio" and you're not able to use it (or route sound over HDMI), then try this out:

echo "options snd-intel-dspcfg dsp_driver=1" > /etc/modprobe.d/inteldsp.conf

Once you reboot and run aplay -l, you should now be able to see the Intel sound card.

Documents on Human Rights Violations

http://www.unipune.ac.in/snc/cssh/HumanRights/

We present here 447 documents published by eight civil and democratic organizations of the country. This is not an exhaustive list nor does this list represent records made by other civil and democratic rights organizations from other regions and parts of the country. Presented here are documents available with four activists of these organizations in Pune and Bombay, who lent it to us for wider use. We thank them. We also thank Sangboi Gangte, the Project Fellow for his help in classifying and cataloguing these documents and Pune Viscom Visual Communication for digitalizing them. Grants for this work were made available by the Centre for Social Sciences of the University of Pune.

Trisquel is a beautiful, fully free distribution of GNU/Linux. We also have Parabola, and many more free GNU/Linux distributions that respect your rights: https://www.gnu.org/distros/free-distros.html

Abhas reshared this.

I use Trisquel. Thank you, FSF.
I have one problem with these: firmware. As much as I wanna use fully libre firmware stacks, I cannot. Therefore use Debian GNU/Linux as a middleway, with non-free repos enabled.
